spring cleaning?

So I googled spring cleaning today. Mainly because it's snowing in Chicago- I wanted to go for a long run on Saturday, but I don't want to be cold and wet. I was thinking that cleaning could count for decent exercise- but have you seen the lists some freaks have out there on what spring cleaning should include!?

Seriously, does anyone really do spring cleaning? Is it just some antiquated concept that my grandmother practiced, that no one does anymore, like darning socks?

Hey:

Yes, I actually spring clean -- but it will still be a few weeks until I do it. I am one of those weirdos that likes to wash windows, and I want to wait until we are in the "clear" for unexpected snow. (I love cleaning windows, but hate making icecubes. Go figure...)

Tri clubs: I'll bet that you could find one through CARA or the Accenture Triathlong sponsors. I know that when I've traveled to Chicago and run the lakeshore path on Saturdays/Sundays, I've seen a bunch of what look to be like tri clubs training. (Lots of people swimming drills at Oak Street beach (wearning wet suits, of course). There was even a vendor out there renting wetsuits! Unfortunately, I didn't catch the name of the club sponsoring the swim, though.

Speaking of CARA, I got very wistful when I saw "Spririt of the Marathon". Most of the "real people" runners profiled in the movie trained with CARA. The group looked large and lively -- like my running club used to be. (Policy changes have helped to drop our numbers to record lows. There was no one at my pace training for Fargo and only one person at my pace that signed up for Grandma's. We used to have numbers in our back-of-the-pack group in the 20s - 30's, and now we have one....sad).

Anyway, dieting is no fun; getting ready for events IS fun; spring cleaning can be fun. (Real Simple Magazine has an article about spring cleaning in its upcoming issue too....)

Talk to you soon!

Yes, I am spring cleaning this year. I have started on the kitchen cubbards. I hope I get them cleaned by fall.
